Why is this so hard to keep updated lately?

It's been a really great Christmas season yet I've slacked horribly about sharing it. I don't know why - I think I'm just comfy and enjoying life rather than reflecting on it. But it's been a good one other than us all catching the plague of the cold. I swear I've been coughing and blowing my nose for a month! But we're on the mend and it didn't slow us down much. I think tonight I'll be done Christmas shopping finally. I just could not get into it this year and liked my bank account balance more than the thought of stuff under the tree that I had to find a place for. We totally gutted the house a few weekends ago - the kids got a playroom in the closet under our stairs - complete with ball pit and we have less crap in our house. I even reorganized all the stuff in my kitchen cupboards and moved the trash can so we have extra shelves in the pantry. I swear I doubled my storage space just by doing that. It's amazing other than poor Mason panicking every time he goes to throw something away. He just can't seem to remember it's new home! Ava's doing great in school. She's no genius but she got rave reviews from her teacher and seems to be at least at smarty pants status! We're hoping the glasses help along her reading more but she's totally on the right track and we are pretty happy for her. And Mason's thinking about jumping on the potty bandwagon more often. We'll get there. They are both uber excited for Santa and I think they deserve it! Here's what we've been up to:

We got our tree

actually saw Santa this year

Cleaned some closets and I'm pretty certain they think their dad is the coolest one ever for making them this.

We found a great new library downtown it's a little overstimulating but the kids love it

As you can see.....

Sold the alleged "haunted cabinet" and got a replacement. I love it! We gained about a foot of space! I need to add molding so it doesn't look so cheap but thanks to Ikea we have storage and thanks to Craigs List I earned back the money I spent on that craptastic "antique" and was able to get these inexpensively.

We actually have walking space now! Meaning you can sit at a chair and someone can walk around you comfortably. Who knew? Next step (and I've been saying this for 3 years) a wicked chandelier!

Who doesn't desire this glowing fauxhawk?

Ava had her ballet/tap recital

They were good little monkeys watching

We went to a Portland Timbers soccer birthday party

It was fun!

I think she could be a band nerd in the making!

And just chilled out!

Hope you all have had a great holiday season, too!
