Boy did we get spoiled with all the presents this year! We had so much fun opening up packages from Nana, Mimi, and Pop-Pop. Next year I promise I'll reciprocate the love. I had these high hopes of doing something cute with the kids and sending your guys' way but then it all escaped me. We've been at Ava's school a lot the past few weeks checking up on her reading and overall progress. It was all very great news! She's taken off on reading and just needs to gain speed in problem solving words she doesn't know. She even gets to leave reading assistance! She is an exceptional speller. And is moving along in math. We just need to help her in a few areas. Now it's just our job as parents not to screw up her progress this spring break and summer. The pattern is she works in overdrive in this crazy focused serious motivated way all year and we aren't doing her any favors by not sustaining that during the school breaks . So instead of her directing that insanely awesome work ethic to new things the poor thing is using it to catch up again. It feels a lot like a parent fail for me. Andy thinks different and I think there is truth in both our sides. I mean she is the youngest kid in her class. And her teacher pushes these kids. She's not in an easy school at all. I don't know. I just love my kid am so proud of her. And now know what I need to do to help her excel.
