Someone's 7

Ava-Cakes turns seven today! I can't even believe it. In a ton of ways it totally feels like it's been seven years. But I kind of miss my tiny, tiny baby a little more than I want to admit. Though, she of course is all kinds of wonderful at her age now and it's loads easier to be a parent to a seven year old than a newborn. Except for maybe the sass. What a sassy pants a seven year old can be! But.....we're getting our hands around that, too. She's just such a little sweetheart overall though. I hope that her level of compassion and empathy towards others is preserved through the teenage years and that it sticks with her forever. I often worry that the world is going to gobble up our Ava. Being her mom isn't much about showing her how to be a good functioning person as much as it is arming her with the right tools to keep what she already as inside her safe.

We threw her on Sunday a carnival birthday party! She had peanuts and popcorn and all sorts of games. We had a pretty crazy turnout and there were so many kids and people. She loved every second of it and it was fun to play some old fashioned games like tug of war and potato sack races. My aunt Carolyn and uncle Mike even made the trek down for it for the day! We were SO excited about that! It was a fun (and exhausting) day. Yesterday when I was cleaning up I pondered what was worse to pick up after. When we threw a 7 year old birthday party or when we'd throw parties at our house in our twenties. I decided it was totally the kid party.

Tug o' War

Andy cheated and put a sack on each bag and ran......cheater cheater pumpkin eater

Aunt Carolyn brought Mason Legos!

I failed taking pictures before the party so this was already half over and plowed through. it really was cute I swear
