Cowboy Girl

It's been a quiet week! Which has been nice. I'm still feeling pretty awful from a case of strep throat and everyone has been enjoyng the temperature cooling off some. We just have been playing around the house and with friends. Ava has been more girlie as of late (if that's possible). She wants to wear ponytails now and is really interested in her hair growing out. She asks daily if it's longer so it'll fit better in a ponytail. For as curly as it is it's also super thin so it just kinks as it grows and doesn't thicken out. Poor thing! But she also....wait for it.....WORE JEANS SHORTS and KHAKIS the other day. She wanted to be a "cowboy girl" like Jessie from Toy Story 3 and her friend Lily. We're so stoked! Mason's talking more and more and is obssessed with sports. If he spots a basketball hoop he freaks out and wants to play instantly. He sees a ball in every round shape and points them all out. I think we have a little athelete on our hands and he has quite the arm. He's also been trying to count to three. He can't quite get the words out but gets the cadence of how the words should be and he bounces his head as he "counts". It's great!

Backyard Changes.....

We've added some things to the backyard this year which has made it a more comforable place to be (if you exclude the mosquitoes). We've got some shade, a place to sit, and some flowers. We also edged out the flowerbed and created a fun firepit. We still have TONS we want to do out there but these are vast improvements to what we currently had which was nothing. We're hoping to participate in our neighborhood tree planting event this fall and finally put some trees on the back fence to shade the setting sun . We decided to keep it colorful for the summer but we're planning on filling in our flower bed with more shrubs and greenery once we get the trees in. And finaly one day we'll extended our patio to flank most of the house and put in a more permanent slatted patio cover. But this is totally great for now and we're pleased.
