8 is Great!

Happy Happy Anniversary to us today! 8 years ago we started on this journey that is our life together. Technically I guess it started about 12+ years ago....or if you want to get real technical 23 years ago when my foxy 7 year old self marched into Mrs. Long's second grade class. ;) I love Andy and am just grateful to him for supporting and loving me and being him.  This time last year we were in a different spot and I didn't know what to expect to feel about coming up to this day this year. As much as last year this month was the beginning of a dark period in our lives I honestly feel like this year it is a fresh start filled with a lot of goodness. I am proud of us for the growth that we've made in the past six months in our relationship as well as within our own selves and am excited to see us transform even further into people we can be proud to be.

Alright it's been my desire since the end of last summer to make our home look like Pottery Barn vomited on it. I unashamedly love Pottery Barn but I am also super cheap. I sometimes can't justify paying $170 for something that will sit on a shelf no matter how much I know it would just look comfy and bootiful to sit there. So. I've been desiring more than life itself the above lanterns for my dining room table. I saw a photo online of my very table with lanterns and just had to have THOSE ones in that picture. But seriously.....$79 per medium sized lantern?!? What sort of professional buyer would I be to authorize such insanity even personally? I digress....yesterday we needed bread and bananas so on my lunch break I went on down to Freddies and stumbled across the ones below. Check. IT. OUT. Yes they aren't wood on the bottoms but could I be picky at this point? I think not because these suckers were on clearance for $9.99 each. They are absolutely the closest thing I'm ever going to find at a steal of a deal! DA-DA-DA-DAAAAAAAAAA  - that is me tooting my own awesomeness horn! It's well deserved here.

The last few days have been great. Never ever underestimate the power of a baby-sitter. We went out with friends Saturday to celebrate the fact we had birthdays and anniversaries this week. It was the first time we four had gone out locally together and it was crazy fun. I even golfed! And enjoyed it! It's just going to be a good month. We have Andy's mom and Randy coming this next weekend; Easter; and a vacation planned at the end of the month. Yesterday was capped off by me running 3 miles actually faster than normally people walk them for once and Andy running me a bubble bath and closing the door to me and my kindle and iPod. It was the bomb. (no people don't say that anymore but apparently I do since it just got typed). I felt like rockstar mom (though according to the Redbook quiz I took I'm LOL mom - what is that?!) and thought of an easy healthy dinner that the kids actually ate and then we all had the energy to actually still go to the park afterwards. We've been having the perfect blend of down time and fun time. Mason is talking WAY more now and in sentences. Though he still does not say his name. He says: Mama, Dadda, Baba, ME. We ask what his name is and he says "baby". We say no....MASON. He says BABY!!. Guess he'll get it eventually. Ava had her very first sleepover on Saturday and was so excited about it. Her and Jojo were so cute in the morning wrapped in their blankies and undies tip toeing into our room. Ava said "my mom and dad are still passed out." Classic.
