This weekend was just plain peaceful. Friday night, Andy and I got a babystitter and went to see our friend's uncle's band. It was close to home and we didn't feel rushed to get there and it felt....normal for the first time in a long time. I don't know how to describe it other than that. NORMAL....FINALLY. It wasn't like OMG this is awkward because I haven't been out with just you in forever and don't know what to do with myself because we never ever go out together. It wasn't stressful leaving the kids because they were excited to see their babysitter. We were bummed we missed out on a last minute invitation with our neighborhood but we were just super happy to be where we were with the people we were with. It felt damn good. We even sat outside and enjoyed our rarely used drinking deck and the nice night when we got home. Saturday we took the kids to the dentist. NO CAVITIES! WHOOP! And Andy went out for the afternoon planting those trees I previously blogged about. When he came home we just chilled. He was so excited about volunteering and we talked about maybe doing something like that more often when the kids get older. It seemed like a lot of fun! Though I got a kick out if his impression of the kids from the advanced school's lack of outdoor skills - then realized I have none either so that made it even more funny because that would have been me! I got some weird flu thing though and was pretty much couched for the night. I was still feeling icky in the morning (and grumpy about it) but got to sleep in and eat breakfast in bed (thanks babe) which made my day. We went out to do the standard boring suburban family Costco run but were super excited because we got Mason's birthday present AND even picked up a few Christmas presents. We summed up the weekend with a walk in the rain (which was more fun than it sounds) and looking at family pictures to dig some out for a school project Ava is doing. She kept out this old album of pictures I had from 6th grade camp. WOW. That's all I can say about those pictures. WOW!
We are being welcomed to the land of another 2 year old. I swear we just finished this but whatevs. POURING RAIN and refusing to wear a jacket and pissed about being in the cart because he wants to run amock around Fred Meyer. Oh man oh man how I can't wait for this boy to be four years old. I love me some four year olds (case in point - Ava politely hanging out in the back of the cart WITH her raincoat on). Though I have to admit little boys are so much more cuddly than little girls and I am going to miss these days of my pudgy little baby's arms wrapped around my neck and cuddling into me.
Ava looking super cute....and weird becasue it looks like she only has one leg.
At the dentist and taking care of business like a champ. She did perfect there.
Mason checking it out
Mom - I'm not so sure about this. And he wasn't. He refused to have his teeth cleaned though he did allow the dentist to check out his teeth. He was told he needed to lose his binky by the time he's 3. He's now 1 day sober off the thing.
Ava rocking her side pony tail!
Out for date night. I told Andy I really wanted to do something where we could score an awesome trophy like the one behind us. He thought I was crazy. I told him....DUH....I know I am but I still want one.
Jordynn our baby sitter took these while we were out. You could tell they were having fun too!
Real men wear fairy wings.
