We've Been Treed!

We've reached a few milestones in this house. Milestone #1: We no longer have babyfood in this house. I cleaned out the pantry last night and it's all gone! And yes I know it's weird I still had rice cereal in my pantry that expired 3 months ago. Milestone #2: The kids last night asked to have their picture taken AND both looked in the same direction smiling at the same time. HOLY LORDY you think I'd won the lottery I was so tickled by that! Milestone #3: Cooper seems to have settled down to be a reasonable dog finally. You have no idea how awesome this is. I feel like I can breathe again. AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. It just plain feels good. He still bugs and he trails me like the dickens so I'm constantly tripping over his large body but at least he's not the nuisance that he used to be. This afternoon while Ava and I colored he slept by my feet. Seriously. It was a golden feeling.

Look how cute they are when you can see BOTH their faces at once!

Look! A normal dog that sat there and smiled for his picture. It's like someone pulled the plug on crazy that was in here. My head feels so light not being stressed all the time anymore by the commotion that was constantly happening by this dog! Just in time for Mason to turn two. HA HA jokes on me!

We got some trees! Every year our neighborhood teams up with a non-profit organization that offers discounted trees to homeowners. They get grants from the government so you get really good sized trees for a fraction of the cost of retail because we're just crunchy enough up here to put that into priority....its a good thing though. The trees help create oxygen in the environment, they help cool during the summer, they put back the green into subdivsions that had their orignal forest like state plowed down for concrete. It's a win all around! We were really excited to get our trees this year because they were going in the backyard where things are a bit lacking in the nature department. The majority of our property is side yard and we just have a long but shallow backyard with lots of open space so these trees are a great addition! Can't wait for spring when we can see what they really look like!

The before shot:

They're going in!

Andy helped volunteer to plant trees. There is something so wrong about a tall man wearing a too small hard hat. Sorry, babe!

We got Katsura trees. I don't know much about them but love the shape of their leaves. And one of the volunteers told us they smell like cotton candy! That's just a great bonus!

The aftershot.....of STICKS! We have to move around all our smaller plants and our lavender bush. I can't wait till these trees fill out and mature a little.

This tree was $50. That's a nice sized tree for that price! Wish our backyard was a little more fat so we could have gotten evergreen trees and enjoyed foliage year round. Oh well though. Can't wait to have shade during the summer now!
